How you write is part of your identity
Did you notice how software slowly started caring about grammar over substance? How the spell check went from "this word does not exist" to "you're writing things incorrectly, you moron?"
A coworker recently started sending messages that looked like it came straight out of ChatGPT. Why? He had it rewrite everything before he sent or posted it, presumably because he felt like his grammar was bad. I told him to stop, I care more about what he's saying than how he says it. He happily obliged.
People aren't machines. We are all speaking some sort of language, but none of us follow all the rules, and we all have some of our own. You might have noticed that in the previous sentence I joined two separate but related sentences with a comma. This is not grammatically correct in English - you're supposed to use a semicolon. I also didn't use an em-dash in the previous sentence.1 Both of those are just rules I don't follow, which is fine. You understand what I wrote anyways. That's how language works.
What I'm saying is, go to Word, disable the grammar rules, and go with what you know. Metaphorically stab anyone who nitpicks your grammar or choice of words. u could type liek dis if u want2, and no one can stop you. You're not in school anymore.
Just, maybe, keep some punctuation. The original rule of commas, colons, semicolons, and periods adding pauses (the length of which is increasing in that order) is pretty important, but you can break most other rules without sacrificing too much.
Let who you are shine through your writing,
Dusty.
1 In general, I detest using pretty much all typographical symbols that weren't important enough to make it into the DOS code page used for the language of your choice. That goes for "smart quotes" as well. The vast majority of them were introduced to distinguish "professionals" from the unwashed masses, and serve no real purpose.
2 Please refrain from doing so if you're going to write a lot and want most people to read it though. It's more likely I'd read a blog post written like such, at least, because I know it's not some slop.
